Welcomehttp://www.gazon.co.ua/metroupdate/issue-43/607/WelcomeWelcome

Summer is here and with it a record heat wave for the month of May, which is a good reminder to start conserving water. Our lawn watering regulations kicked off two weeks earlier this year, so hopefully this will help us ensure we keep our reservoir levels in check, while preparing for hotter and drier summers in the future as climate change becomes a bigger issue as we move forward.

Speaking of climate change, we have launched a public dialogue series to give and get information from residents on our new Climate 2050 Discussion Paper, which will develop a vision to ensure our infrastructure, ecosystems and communities are resilient to the impacts of climate change. The series follows a public survey last fall, which found most respondents were concerned about the changing climate and what governments were doing to address it.

We're also doing our part to help revive the Steambank Lupine at Deas Island Regional Park, which has been declining due to our rapid urbanization and have launched through the National Zero Waste Council, A Food Loss and Waste Strategy for Canada.

For those of you tired of high gas prices, or just wanting to test the alternative vehicles out there, we are holding more Emotive events over the next few months to raise awareness of electric vehicles. Come check it out!

Metro Vancouver is a federation of 21 municipalities, one Electoral Area and one Treaty First Nation that collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services. Its core services are drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management. Metro Vancouver also regulates air quality, plans for urban growth, manages a regional parks system and provides affordable housing.

Read more...Welcome0 0
